Lovchev - about Spartak's decision to continue working with Tedesco: “I haven't seen any decision-making logic in the team for a long time”

Veteran of the Moscow "Spartak" Evgeny Lovchev commented on "SE" the decision of the leadership of the red and white to give Domenico Tedesco the opportunity to finish the contract.

- It is difficult to say how correct this decision is. We'll watch it in May. On the one hand, there are no transfers, no reinforcements, but on the other hand, with all this, he keeps the team at the top of the standings. I can say one thing - I never remember this in the team. Not only does the coach announce his retirement from the team six months in advance, but the management also does not understand why. As a pupil of Starostin, I never remember that 17 coaches were replaced in 15 years. Yes, the coaches changed, but they did not work in a team for six months. Spartak lacks any decision-making logic.

- Will the team be able to impose a fight on Zenit in the spring?

- From the beginning, Spartak could not fight against Zenit. Because the composition of "Spartak" is much weaker. At the beginning of the season, when the Petersburgers were losing points, I said that Spartak would not fight for the championship. "Zenith" himself brought to such that there are competitors nearby. We can say that he allowed himself to compete with himself. How many times have we said that Spartak needs reinforcement. I don't remember such conversations about Zenit. Neither Spartak nor CSKA are competitors to Zenit, first of all in terms of their composition. I have not seen and do not see any struggle.

On December 16, after the match with Zenit (1: 3), Tedesco announced that he would not renew his contract with Spartak, which ends in summer 2021. It was reported that the management of the red-and-whites may early terminate the contract with the German specialist, however, on December 25, the club issued a statement on the continuation of cooperation with the coach until the end of the 2020/21 season.
