Lovchev - on the results of Russian clubs in Europe: "People in the offices do not understand how football is built"

Former USSR national team midfielder Yevgeny Lovchev explained to SE what the reason for the failure of our teams in the international arena.

- About our, I'm not afraid of this word, shame today is spoken in passing, - said Lovchev. - Such performances are a real shame. In Soviet times, half of the team would have been disbanded for such results. Now we need to ask people who once said that with the transition to the autumn-spring system, our teams will start to perform well in European competitions. These people, sitting in their offices, do not understand how football is built. It does not depend on the fall-spring or spring-fall system. The most important thing is to be able to properly manage a football economy. By this I mean, first of all, children's football.

We have a lot of academies in the country: Spartak, CSKA, Dynamo. Where did the national team players come from? Gazinsky - Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Erokhin, Sobolev - Barnaul, Zobnin - Irkutsk, Golovin-Kaltan. In these cities, there was no football in life. Where are our vaunted academies? The boys themselves, without teachers and coaches, went out into the world. We need to think about this, not about the spring-autumn system.
